HIPPY Success Stories

Letter confirms HIPPY builds confidence!

“HIPPY Oakville is a wonderful program!  We have had the fortune to work with HIPPY for both of our sons.  Our 6 year old son completed the HIPPY program prior to entering JK and I sincerely believe that his focus was strengthened during all the HIPPY activities.  His knowledge of many things grew and our mother-son bond was strengthened by spending so much time side by side reading and enjoying many fun activities together.

"Our younger  son, now 3 1/2 is also benefiting from our
regular HIPPY activities.  He looks forward to our time
together and feels really proud of himself each time he
completes an activity.  I see his confidence building and his
  knowledge of many things expanding.

"HIPPY Oakville creates an opportunity for families to help
their children grow and learn.  HIPPY provides support from
the beginning to the end of the program with amazing home
visitors that come and teach parents how to help teach their
  children.

"I feel very fortunate to have stumbled upon this program years ago.  I sincerely believe that
the HIPPY program has helped give my boys a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning”.
Signed, R.O.

Reflection by HIPPY Mother as dictated to HIPPY Oakville

“Every mother wants to become a good caretaker. She desires that her kids to be good in study.

"I’m in a totally different country, new atmosphere, people who are born in this country, they know. When I come here I don’t know how to talk to somebody. Every day I learn lots of things. I don’t want my son to face the same problems that I faced. That’s why I joined the HIPPY program - I thought the men work in the world, but now I know the ladies they can do everything  - they really helped me to grow especially with Rohaan.

"I don’t have money for a preschool, but HIPPY is free to help your child. They can become good students. This is the right age – the kids learn the right things. The kids don’t like to share, they don’t know how to share. When I came here, Rohaan learned lots of things like how to sit with the friends. Before he fought with everybody now he shares.

"Sometimes he talks to he and I am surprised where he learned all these words. I speak to him in my language, not often in English, but when he gives me the answers, the right thing, I am totally surprised where he learns all these things. I am not worried about Rohaan – he wants to go to school. He feels confident.

"I need somebody to teach me what is going on in the outside. What is going on in school. You have every language in here. My language is Hindi, Punjabi. If I have a problem in English, Aeysha speaks to me in my language. You have somebody to help in Spanish and Chinese.

"When new immigrants come here they have problems with English, they want the kids to have right atmosphere, good school. You can teach. You have somebody to about my problems. I don’t want miss even one day; it is his future.

"Rohaaan is so excited, he wants to come to school even if we come on the two buses. “I want to meet my friends”  He just wants to come.

"When Rohaan was having difficulty with the other kids, I felt so bad, I decided I didn’t want to outside and meet people.

"The lady at the multi-cultural program told me that this a free program and can teach you and your child. And I say, maybe they can help me.

"The early years centre just gives you’re the toys, but they
don’t teach you how to write and read it. When I come here,
you can teach us lot of things, writing, reading, colouring,
cutting. Every day a new thing. We learned about the cutting.
When he made the dinosaur, he loved he hangs it in the
  window.

"I am a mother and every mother wants good things for the
  kids”.
